A Running Diary to Inspire Sedbergh’s Future Athletes
We are delighted to introduce the new Sedbergh Running Diary by Richard Wells, Head of Running at Sedbergh School. Whilst called a Diary, in reality it is a comprehensive guide designed to inspire and support pupils in their running journeys. This diary offers an in-depth exploration of essential running concepts, alongside a personalised log where students can track and annotate their progress. Enriched with motivational profiles of successful athletes, this diary not only provides practical guidance but also encourages pupils to set ambitious goals and embrace the transformative power of running. Ideal for both beginners and seasoned runners, it’s a valuable resource for every aspiring athlete at Sedbergh School.
Richard, explains his motivation for preparing the diary, “I want to leave pupils with a lasting legacy of motivation and personal achievement; I want to inspire our pupils to see running as not just a sport, but as a journey of self-discovery and growth. By sharing my expertise and the stories of successful athletes, I hope I can empower pupils to unlock their potential and pursue greatness, both in sport and in life.” The Diary will be given to all pupils attending running activities.
I am greatly impressed by the depth of Richard’s research into the archives and by his overview of the philosophy of preparing for sport in today’s climate, none of which was addressed in my day.
