This is a list of personal items that are recommended in addition to the Senior School uniform. ALL of the following items need to be clearly named with your child’s first, surname and boarding house name.
BEDROOM ITEMS REQUIRED

If living abroad these items may be bought in advance (from e.g. Marks and Spencers or Asda) and delivered to school using this delivery address: YOUR CHILD’S NAME, Headmaster’s Office, Sedbergh School, Sedbergh LA10 5HG. We can accept deliveries during the week on Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The offices are not manned between 13:00 to 14:30 nor at weekends.
A bedside light / desk lamp (which must adhere to the School’s Electrical Rules contained in the Health and Safety Policy (School Policies) – one that can clip onto side of bed/desk could be helpful.
Pupils are encouraged to bring photos or small room decorations (no mains plugs allowed) and are asked to only pin items to the boards provided (strictly not to stick or ‘tack’ to the painted walls).
CLOTHING AND PERSONAL CARE
- Wash bag including supplies of necessary toiletries/sanitary products
- Small shoe cleaning kit
- Nightwear (pyjamas etc) x 3
- Dressing gown
- Slippers/sliders – for indoor use
- Underwear x 10
- 3 sets of casual clothes (jeans/jumpers/hoodies/t-shirts)
- 2 sets of smarter outfits suitable for social events
- Girls may also wish to bring a formal, long dress for black tie functions
Please note that storage space in bedrooms is very limited and so pupils should not bring more items than are stated here plus their school uniform list items.
STATIONERY
- Fully stocked pencil case – including pens, pencils, colouring pencils, glue, small scissors, hole puncher
- Drawing pins (to pin things to notice board in bedroom)
- Maths set to include a compass, protractor and ruler
- Calculators:
- GCSE – FX-85 GTCW
- A Level – FX-991CW
- Casio FX-85 GTCW – can be bought from the in-School Stationary Store at the beginning of term (approx. £10)
- All pupils will also need a supply of A4 lined paper
- Pupils will be issued with exercise books and/or folders and paper by subject teachers – the cost will be added to the pupil bill.
Textbooks will be issued on a loaned basis by the teachers and must be returned after use. Certain textbooks which require workings, calculations, or records of the individual pupil and which cannot be reused may be chargeable. Otherwise, the cost of textbooks is included in the fees. Books which are not returned for any reason will be added to the pupil bill at replacement cost.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS

- If you might be going to get involved in sailing, canoeing, Royal Navy CCF or open water swimming when you come to Sedbergh we should be in a position to lend you a wetsuit. If you wish to bring your own then you may do so.
DELIVERIES DIRECT TO THE SCHOOL

NAME LABELS
Any uniform & games items purchased through Schoolblazer.com may have name labels added if you give instructions to do so when ordering.
A spare supply of labels must also be provided by parents for every pupil. They need to show the pupil’s full name and the initial of their boarding house ie:

Bedding and towels orders sent directly to the school can be marked with a permanent marker by the Assistant Housemaster/Mistress or the Laundry Assistant in house.
EMBOIDERY OF GAMES KIT
All games kit must be embroidered with initials of forename and surname, in house colour only

The initials must be embroidered on the front outer hem for tops / shorts / scorts and on the waist band for tracksuit trousers – they should not be too small as must be visible for the laundry to be able to see them.
If you don’t have your own embroiderer, you may contact David & Sam Scott on 01768 866 961 or sales@samscotts.co.uk to make your own arrangement with them to have it done.
For pupils joining the school from overseas, embroidery of the games kit can be organised by the boarding house once the pupil has enrolled at the start of term (it will be done by through David & Sam Scott). Please advise Admissions on admissions@sedberghschool.org if you wish the boarding house to take care of the embroidery for your child. The cost of this embroidery will be added to you child’s school bill.
