Learning Support

The Learning Support department plays a crucial role in ensuring that pupils with SEND receive the support and guidance required – breaking down the barriers to learning and embedding strategies to promote the love of learning and confidence in the classroom.

By recognising and building on individual pupil strengths, and through the delivery of flexible and bespoke programmes of study, SEND pupils are empowered and equipped to reach their full potential.

In year 9-11, Learning Support lessons take place instead of a subject block with pupils being taught in small groups, with a high teacher/ pupil ratio. In the Sixth Form, lessons take place during independent study periods on a 1:1 basis.

The School welcomes pupils with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities, where we are able to make the necessary reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of the individual, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
