Creativity

In today’s ever-changing world, being creative is essential. At Sedbergh, we view the essence of creativity as a practical set of skills that involve original thinking and problem-solving.

Sometimes, tough challenges require fresh solutions. We spark a curiosity in our pupils, encouraging them to think outside the box, urging them to question the usual ways of doing things. Learning isn’t just about gathering knowledge; it’s about using knowledge to creatively solve real problems.

We nurture agile minds that can adapt, innovate, and see things from new angles – traits that will be highly valued in the workplaces of tomorrow

Creative minds meeting tomorrow's challenges

We believe that creativity is vital for developing young minds, nurturing them to explore, imagine and innovate. It is through creativity that our pupils learn to see the world through a kaleidoscope of possibilities, turning questions into explorations and challenges into opportunities for inventive solutions.

Creativity in the classroom is embedded in problem-solving and the ability to think outside the box. By valuing creativity, we aim to offer an environment where every child feels empowered to express their unique perspectives and ideas, building confidence and a sense of individuality. This encouragement of creative thinking from an early age prepares pupils for a future where adaptability, originality and innovation will be key to navigating the complexities of an ever-changing world.

“Creativity is the spark that ignites interest, transforms challenges into opportunities and weaves discovery into every lesson.”

Mrs Charlton, Deputy Head (Academic)
