At Sedbergh Prep School, our commitment to academic excellence and individual growth is reflected in outstanding standardised results across Maths, English, and Science. With a focus on tailored learning experiences, we see remarkable progress and high levels of attainment from our pupils.

  • Maths: A notable 99% of pupils achieve average or above scores, with 19% reaching the top 4% nationally and 40% of pupils making higher than expected progress in their maths learning.
  • English: Across all year groups, 96% of our pupils achieve average or above standards in English, with 19% attaining scores that ranks them in the the top 4% nationally for literacy skills.
  • Science: Our science standards are “Highly Above Average,” with an impressive 98% of pupils achieving average or above standardised scores. An outstanding 35% of pupils achieved “very high” scores, placing them in the top 4% natiowide.

This attainment highlights the value we place on academic growth and the School’s supportive, nurturing environment that builds confidence and a love for learning in pupils. At every age, we strive to develop independent and active learners who embrace challenge and are well-prepared for the next step in their educational pathway. Our unique curriculum offers opportunities for the children to discover, apply and communicate their learning. Learning that promotes active engagement, inspires creativity and curiousity and develops critical thinking – key skills for life both now and in the future.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) rated the Prep School as Excellent for the quality of the pupils’ academic education and their personal development. The accompanying report praised ‘excellent pupil progress across all abilities’, underpinned by ‘very strong study skills’, excellent attitudes to learning and ‘high levels of knowledge, skill and understanding across the curriculum’.
