Prof J Mennell BSc (Leeds), DL

Professor Mennell is Vice Chancellor of the University of Cumbria, Deputy Lieutenant of Cumbria and involved in a range of regional and sector groups including Chair of Furness Education, Employment & Skills Taskforce, member representative for the Energy Coast University Technical College; and member of the Barrow and Carlisle Town Deal Boards. She also holds the roles of Chair of Carlisle Youth Zone and Vice Chair of the Cathedrals Group of Universities and is a member of the MillionPlus university group.

Retired banking and finance lawyer and Global Head of Banking and Divisional Managing Partner with Addleshaw Goddard LLP, Leeds. Former parent. Governor with oversight of boarding standards in the School, and a member of the Executive Committee and Safeguarding, Audit & Risk Sub-Committee.

Recently retired Headmaster of The New Beacon School, Sevenoaks after 25 years’ headship in three different schools. Educational Consultant advising schools on strategy and development. Governor with oversight of EYFS and a member of the Education Committee.
