Day Pupils

We welcome day pupils. Sedbergh has a long history of welcoming day pupils who benefit from our exceptional all-round education without the overnight stay.

Joining a supportive House community

All of our day pupils join one of our Houses, becoming part of the close-knit supportive House community. Day pupils have their own space within their House where they can keep their things, change for sport or study.

Every House has its own dining room so that the whole House can eat meals together with staff. Day pupils will eat lunch every day in their house and they are very welcome to have both breakfast and dinner in their House too if they choose. House chefs respond to individual dietary needs. The House common rooms and library, enable pupils to socialise and study together.

A sense of belonging

With each House having its own colours, flag, motto and emblem, Day pupils develop a strong sense of loyalty to their House and pride in its achievements. Day pupils join their House for an exciting array of inter-House activities – ranging from pure fun to competitions covering almost every facet of School life, be it chess, rugby, sailing, netball, academic, music or drama. On weekends and in the evenings Day pupils attend our academic societies, debating and concerts.

The range of opportunities available ensures that our day pupils contribute their talents to collective achievement and ensures that each and every pupil benefits from an all-round education.
